Junior Development Program
A fully bespoke, 1-2-1 pathway for golf's next generation.
No two junior golfers develop the same way, so we don't coach them the same way. The Junior Development Program is a completely individualised, one-on-one pathway built around a single player: their game, their goals, their timeline. Every session, every drill, and every milestone is designed specifically for them, drawing on the full depth of GW Coaching's technical expertise, performance technology, and tournament experience.
This isn't a class or a clinic. It's a program built from the ground up, around one athlete.
The pathway is the work of Gavin Grenville-Wood, who built the Golfzon Leadbetter Kids Program from its earliest stages, shaping the curriculum, the coaching philosophy, and the structured progression that guides young players from their first swing to competitive golf. Having developed the Leadbetter Kids pathway and the performance pathway that follows it, Gavin brings a depth of experience in junior development few can match, and every player on the program benefits directly from that knowledge.
Two Pathways, One Journey
Development is structured around the player's age and stage, with a clear pathway from first swings to competitive performance.
Golfzon Leadbetter Kids Program
Our youngest players follow the Golfzon Leadbetter Kids Program, a structured curriculum built on the world-renowned Leadbetter methodology. Every player's progress is managed and tracked through our dedicated platform at glkgolfcoach.com, so coaches, players, and parents can see development unfold session by session.
Golfzon Leadbetter Performance Pathway
As players grow, the program shifts to the Golfzon Leadbetter Performance Pathway, which places physical development at the centre of the journey. Strength, mobility, and power are built specifically for golf, while skills, knowledge, and aptitude are developed in equal measure across every other area of the game.
From First Steps to Elite Golfer
Every champion starts somewhere. Our structured development pathway takes a child from their very first encounter with golf all the way through to competitive performance, guided by world-class Leadbetter methodology at every stage.

Early Years
The very first encounter with golf. Play-based, sensory-rich sessions introduce the youngest players to the club, the ball, and the joy of movement in a fun, safe environment.
Three Pillars of Development
Develop the Human Being
Character, values, resilience, and social skills come first. Golf is the vehicle, not the destination. Every child learns who they are before they learn how to play.
Develop the Athlete
Physical literacy, movement competency, and athletic foundations are built before technique is introduced. A good golfer is first a good mover.
Develop the Golfer
Only once the human being and athlete are developing well do we layer in golf-specific skills, technique, and course management with Leadbetter methodology.
Built Around the Player, Not the Other Way Around
Every Junior Development plan starts with an in-depth assessment of the player's technical game, physical profile, and competitive goals. From there, we build a bespoke development roadmap, one that evolves as the player grows, adapting session by session and season by season. Nothing is off the shelf.
Technical Coaching, Backed by Real Tour Experience
Junior athletes on the program train directly with GW Coaching's team, led by PGA Fellow Gavin Grenville-Wood and DP World & Asian Tour player Joshua Grenville-Wood. Players get direct access to coaching informed by what it actually takes to compete and win at the highest level, supported by Golfzon Leadbetter technology and Skillest's online coaching platform to keep development connected between in-person sessions.
Physical Development, Powered by Golfzon Leadbetter Performance
Golf is an athletic sport, and juniors need to train like athletes. Working alongside golf coach and fitness expert Ethan Grenville-Wood, players follow a structured strength, mobility, and power program built on the Golfzon Leadbetter Performance platform. Every player's development is tracked against key performance markers (clubhead speed, carry distance, sprint speed, jump power), so progress is measured, not assumed, and every physical program is built specifically around what that player's game needs.
The Mental Game
Tournament golf is won as much between the ears as it is with the swing. The program builds mental performance training into every stage of development, helping young players build focus, composure, and resilience under pressure, so the skills built on the range hold up when it matters on the course.
Tournament Preparation
For players competing at a serious level, the program includes dedicated tournament preparation (course strategy, on-course decision-making, and event-specific practice plans), so players arrive at competition ready, not just technically sound.
Training Across Multiple Locations
Development doesn't happen in one place. The program uses a range of locations to expose players to different courses, conditions, and environments, building the adaptability that competitive golf demands.
The Four-Step Session Framework
Every class, regardless of age group or topic, follows the same proven structure. It creates consistent, child-centred experiences that build skills through discovery, support, and competition.
Create the Challenge
Set a clear, engaging challenge that replicates a real on-course scenario. The goal gives every child something purposeful to work toward.
Allow Time to Overcome
Give students space to explore, fail, and problem-solve. Creativity, trial and error, and embracing failure are life skills in action.
Provide Resources
Once students have explored the challenge, introduce the relevant drills and processes. They are now ready to learn because they have felt the need to improve.
Play the Game
Close every session with a game that applies the skills in a fun, competitive context. Competition is the glue that motivates every child to keep growing.
For all children aged 4 to 12, every programme is anchored in regular skills assessment and physical development monitoring. Coaches analyse the results and adapt the curriculum and session content in direct response to where each child shows deficiencies, ensuring development is always targeted, personal, and progressive.
Progress Tracked Every Step of the Way
Throughout the junior pathway, every child's development is monitored through our bespoke proprietary software. From the earliest stages right through to elite performance, no detail is left untracked.
Technical Skill Tracking
Every technical skill is logged and assessed over time, giving coaches and parents a clear picture of growth and areas needing focus.
Physical Development Monitoring
Targeted physical development checkpoints are built into each stage, tracking athletic growth alongside golf-specific progress.
Pathway Checkpoints
Structured milestones at each stage of the journey ensure every junior is progressing in line with expectations and individual goals.

Who It's For
The Junior Development Program is built for committed junior golfers who are serious about progressing, whether that's climbing the rankings, preparing for a big tournament season, or laying the foundation for golf at the next level. Because the program is fully bespoke, it flexes to meet the player wherever they currently are.
Start Building Your Program
Every Junior Development Program begins with a one-on-one consultation to understand the player's game, goals, and schedule. From there, we build a plan around them.
